Pattern Drenching

There’s a new design term in town, and that word or term is “drenching”.  This refers to using one singular, striking pattern or color on multiple areas in a space, such as upholstered furniture, walls, and window treatments.  It’s a way of making a room feel exciting, unified, and cohesive.  Contrary to popular belief, the more you use a pattern, the less busy the room will feel.   This can work with both large-scale and small-scale fabric patterns, but is best used in smaller, intimate rooms and a subdued color palette. The space immediately has character, uniqueness, drama, and energy.  This technique, however,   can be very intimidating and is best left to professional interior designers to pull it off correctly.
